Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and Romanian Ambassador Dan Stoenescu met to explore expanded cooperation in trade, logistics, defence, energy, and culture.
According to an official statement released on Saturday, the ambassador proposed using Romania's Constanta Port as a direct trade route for Pakistani exports to Europe through the Black Sea and Danube River. The minister welcomed this step to diversify Pakistan's export logistics.
Both sides discussed increasing agri-trade, meat exports, and potential collaboration in pharmaceuticals, surgical goods, fans, and green energy. Romania offered solar and wind power technologies to support Pakistan's green energy transition. It also expressed interest in deeper industrial cooperation, recognising Pakistan's competitiveness in various sectors.
The commerce minister informed the ambassador that Pakistan is reducing tariff and non-tariff barriers, offering lucrative investment incentives for Romanian companies through joint ventures.
Stoenescu praised the growth of Pakistan's IT industry and the skills of its professionals. He said Romania would facilitate Pakistani tech talent and noted the potential for cooperation in digital services.
